This fan is relatively quiet, considering its low cost. Most of the noise comes from the rushing air itself. Any inline fan can cause vibration in the duct work, and this fan is no different. You must be prepared to dampen any vibration it causes, and it may cause that vibration in other parts of your duct work, so you could be tweaking things for a few days.
If a bedroom is near the installation, you would be wise to consider one of the very quiet fans made by companies like Can Fan or Vortex. These typically cost between $100-$200, depending on capacity.

I was most unhappy with this duct fan. It bearly moved air and actually caused the system air to become slower out of the vents. This is a poor design and should only be considered as a way to move air outside of a ductwork system. Stay clear of this if you are looking for real air movement and understand the distinction with regards to CFM in a "real air" scenario. I assure you that disastifaction is guaranteed if you think this fan will supplement your AC or heating system. I am shocked that reviews on this item have anything positive to say.

i received the unit promptly. 1 day ahead of the earliest est. delivery. i was unaware i couldn't just plug the thing in. i guess you have to go to home depot or someplace. thats where i went and bought a 'tool replacement cord' for $12.97. it is supposed to have 3 open wires on one end and the plug on the other. with that done it started right up and has met my needs so far.
