At first you may think that you don't need to boost your signal but I've found a few good uses for this pedal.
First of all, It adds some sort of fullness to my sound. Too much can muddy up your tone for chords. If you're playing metal and want a razor sharp riff then leave this off but if you want some nice full chords then turn this on at about 3/10. My amp is somewhat thin sounding so this pedal helps thicken up the sound. I'm not quite sure if I can say it adds some bass or mids, cause it does sound bass-ier and fuller, which I'd say the mids contribute to the fullness.

Turn the knob all the way up and you can make a clean amp go into overdrive when you strum hard. It's cool cause you can be playing individual notes off a chord and then strum it, and it'll be overdriven. Leave it at about half way on a clean channel and you'll get a smooth clean sound.

I see this pedal as a mid-booster. That's somewhat the effect that it has. Thickens up the notes but may somewhat muddy up the tone if you're wanting some chainsaw/ edgy metal riffs. It isn't so bad cause the fullness that it has can make you overlook the newly acquired bassy tone that may be unwanted. The overall effect to the tone is only like a 5-10 percent feel and the fullness/ thickness added is like 20-30 percent. You may find it worth it.

It's not such a great pedal and you can probably save your $40 dollars if you're happy with your tone, but now that I paid the $40 dollars for it all I can do is use the pedal or leave it out. And considering that I'm always using it, I'll give it a 5 star rating. You can live without it but once you have it, the extra slight hint of effect this pedal has may be wanted. 5 stars cause this pedal doesn't lack anything. It's just a booster.. it doesn't claim to make you sound like your favorite guitarist, but it sure does help get a better tone if your amp is lacking or thin.

I tested this pedal on a Mesa/Boogie Triple Rectifier and 4x12 cab setup.

This pedal works great if you are boosting on a clean channel or lightly distorted channel where you have alot of headroom for a gain increase.

However if you are already in a high gain metal distortion situation stepping on this pedal doesnt have any volume effect, as you have no more headroom to boost into. This is not the pedals fault, but it is important to remember if the pedal doesnt appear to boost volume, you are simply out of headroom and your amp's preamp is going into compression. (atleast thats how it works with tube amps, couldnt say about solid state)

This pedal does seem to boost your low end frequency quite a bit, which can be good or bad depending on your style, but I like my boost transparent and to have no effect on my tone, so i did return this to amazon. If you want a pedal that gives a boost without changing the tone, look for something else because this does boost your low to low mid range freq. Aside from that it is quiet (In regards to feedback and hum) and functional. Doesnt effect tone when bypassed.

Bought as a boost after my OCD and Big muff. OCD is my tone. on all the time. and muff is used as a low end crunch which is pushed by the OCD. I cracnk in the LPB-1 for solos only....good stuff.
